Jiantan Trail – near Shilin

One of the most accessible hikes near downtown Taipei.
The Jiantan Trail (劍潭山親山步道) has fantastic city views and is one of the most convenient walks to do in Taipei. The hike begins opposite Taipei Metro – Jiantan Station (劍潭站), about 300 metres south. Paths are clearly marked and map boards are scattered throughout the trail. It is possible to do a loop on the red and yellow paths which takes around 1 – 2 hours. Alternatives to the yellow and red trails include linking up with other paths and heading east toward Neihu.
The walk starts with a lot of stairs.
The trail varies from the completely paved to large stepping stones.
On a clear day you can see the whole of downtown Taipei, Keelung River, Songshan Airport and surrounding mountains …
… as well as Shilin, Danshui River and Guanyin Shan mountain.
