Xiaozi Shan Hiking Trail

Ropes, ladders, stairs carved into rock and stunning scenery.
Xiaozi Shan is one of the most fun walks close to Taipei and a great place to spend half a day or more climbing the craggy peaks. The Xiaozi Shan walk starts just a few hundred metres from the centre of the town of Pinxgxi (坪溪) and as long as you are not scared of heights is an easy walk. The trail follows a basic loop and it is simple to make the walk as long or as short as you like depending on how many peaks you wish to climb.
The walk starts up concrete stairs through some lush green forest.
The trail is well signed. In this case signs to Cimu Feng (慈母峰) and other peaks on the Pingxi Trail.
Stairs and ladders take you to the top of Xiaozi Shan peak.
Statues atop Xiaozi Shan.
The view from Xiaozi Shan and other peaks are stunning.
Views over Pingxi village and surrounding forest.
It is not all ropes and ladders, this is part of the path at the base of base Cimu Feng.

For a similar type of hiking with ropes, but only steeper, try Wuliaojian Trail.
